Course of the week
This weeks ‘Course of the Week’ took place for Blackburn with Darwin Council and ran from 14th – 18th June. The course was a 5 day Handling People with Special Needs programme aimed specifically towards those people working with children with physical special needs and learning difficulties.
The course was attended by 5 candidates who all thoroughly enjoyed it and thanked Janet for her unique delivery style ! Pictured from left to right we have Sam Dancer from St. Lukes School in Scunthorpe, Louise Garner, Louise Teese & Ann Marie Cooper all from Blackburn with Darwin Borough Council and last but not least Hayley Vertigan also from St. Lukes School in Scunthorpe.

This week’s ‘Course of the Week’ was a 3 day Load Management Theory & Client Handling Techniques course held for Interhealth Care Services in Runcorn, Cheshire. It was held from 7th – 10th June 2010. The hosts made everyone feel very welcome and our trainer (Jan) was well catered for.

A special mention to Lol who travelled down from his company ‘Mouchel’ who are based in Teesside. Jan told us after the course that “everyone worked well together and they all made me feel very welcome” – Thanks to all who took part !

This weeks ‘Course of the Week’ was held for Herefordshire County Council. The 3 day course ran from 17th – 19th May, pictured from left to right we have Maggie Byram, Donald Whitehouse and Glenda Layton.
The Load Management Theory & Client Handling Techniques course is used by a wide variety of organisations such as Councils, NHS Trusts, Residential Homes and Domiciliary Care etc due to its flexibility. All candidates successfully passed the course and if the smiling faces are anything to go by we can safely say they enjoyed the 3 days !
This Handling People with Special Needs course was held for three schools in North Lanarkshire Council from 10th – 14th May 2010. Left to right in the photograph we have Marie Clare Webster, Elizabeth Read, Mhairi Sadiq, Sheila Kerr, Fiona McCall and Sheena Delaney.
They all had a wonderful week at a superb venue with lots of hard work but an equal amount of fun.

This weeks ‘Course of the Week’ was held for a company called Mouchel who work closely with Middlesbrough Council, it ran from 26th – 28th April 2010 and was delivered by Jan Crawford. This course was different in so much that it was not one of our ‘off the shelf’ courses and was put together specifically for this group who all work in the local Leisure centre.
Pictured from left to right we have Stephen Pentland, Ada Osborne and Stephen Falconer, the course was enjoyed by all and showed the diversity of training offered by Centaur Training.
This weeks ‘Course of the Week’ came from Arvalee Special School in Omagh, Northern Ireland. The course ran from 12th – 16th April 2010 and it was hailed as a great success. From left to right (top row) we have Paul McAvoy, Jim O’Hare, Ursula Kerrigan, Claire Gallagher and Marie Taggart. On the bottom row we have Carol Muldoon, Brian Sammon and Nikki Cordner.
The candidates attending this Handling People with Special Needs 5 day programme were from various special schools throughout the Western & Southern Education & Library Boards. Our trainer Janet thoroughly enjoyed working with such an enthusiastic bunch which is just as well as her journey home ended up being a mini tour of the UK due to her return flight being cancelled because of some Volcanic Ash….
This weeks course of the week was a four day trainers course for those working with "Children with Special Needs in Education" held at Chadsgrove School in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire was attended by Karen Day from Chadgrove School, Tracy Hands from Blakebrook School and Sally Cooper also from Blakebrook School.

This weeks ‘Course of the Week’ was held at Cymryd Rhans’ training venue in Llandrindod Wells, Powys. The course was entitled Handling People with Special Needs (Adults) V2 and it is designed for those people working with adults with physical special needs and / or learning difficulties. It ran from 8th – 12th February and judging by the photos everyone had a great time !
On the main photo from left to right at the back we have Linda Hughes from Cartrefi Cymru, Diane Parrish of Cymryd Rhan and Ross Coward from Cartrefi Cymru. At the front we have Lydia Evans of Cartrefi Cymru, Michele Baron from Cymryd Rhan, Kelly Collinge from Accept Care, Karen Harvey of Cartrefi Cymru and last but by no means least Elrlys Davies also from Cartrefi Cymru.
In the other photos, Ross holds a ‘captive’ audience with his knowledge of the spine. Michele seems delighted to discuss the AAPEE system whilst Kelly gets ‘hands on’ with Ross…

This weeks ‘Course of the Week’ was held at the Nuffield Hospital, Guildford, Surrey. The 3 day Load Management Theory & Client Handling Techniques course was delivered by Jan Crawford. It took place from 1st to 3rd February, the hospital did well to get the course on with a replacement at very late notice due to an earlier cancellation. Pictured form left to right we have Tanya Spreadborough, Sue Feeley and Maria Hewer.
This Week’s ‘Course of the Week’ was held at Kilton Thorpe Special School in Brotton, Cleveland. The course took place from 11th – 15th January 2010 and at one point it looked destined not to go ahead because of the weather but all participants weren’t going to let a bit of snow get in the way of their course so on it went !
The course brought candidates together from a number of schools from the North East of England and it was very well received. Pictured from left to right, proudly displaying their certificates we have Gurby Sandhu from Durham County Council, Catherine Poxon from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Newcastle, Kayleigh Simpson from The Galsworthy Centre School in South Shields, Sarah Gunn from Kilton Thorpe Special School and Alison Bettson also from Kilton Thorpe Special School.
The course was delivered by our lead trainer for Special Needs courses, Janet Hunt and the 2nd picture you can see is Janet’s 2 year old granddaughter Maisie pictured with her “new best friend” ‘Dolly Kate’.

This weeks ‘Course of the Week’ was held at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and it ran from 11th – 13th January 2010. The 3 participants all successfully completed the 3 day Load Management Theory & Client Handling Techniques ‘Masterclass’ course, they all deserve an extra pat on the back just to have made it along there bearing in mind the pretty horrendous weather conditions at that time !
